About
Ron was born and raised in New Jersey. After briefly attending engineering school and realizing that a slide-rule was required (yes… that was before calculators), Ron switched his studies to biology. Motivated by the chance to live in the Caribbean as a marine biologist (never happened), he completed a Ph.D in Biology at New York University. Ron worked as a pharmacologist in the pharmaceutical industry and published research articles for scientific journals. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, his company fell victim to a corporate takeover and the research facility was closed, giving Ron the opportunity for a new career.
For personal reasons (grandkid count up to five), Ron and his wife moved to Idaho and invested in real estate. Shortly after heading north, the real estate market headed south. They stayed on, because as everybody knows, the older you get, the more you embrace a cold and snowy climate. After fulfilling a promise about getting a dog, they settled on an easy-going, docile German Shepherd. And then a second one arrived: Followed by a third. It was soon discovered that German Shepherds were not easy-going or docile. He must have been thinking: Golden Retriever. Welcome to the dog training world. After several years of expert guidance from local dog training clubs, it seemed inevitable to use those skills as an instructor. It’s much easier to tell someone else what they’re doing wrong.
Ron was never politically motivated, but two things changed. First, reading the real estate section was still no fun. More important was the realization that government leaders in Washington were reshaping our fundamental values. The country was becoming more polarized, while independent centric philosophy eroded. Respectful discussions were disappearing and replaced by ideologically motivated attacks. Facts were either ignored or carefully selected to demonize the opposing view. This presented an opportunity for a new career.
